This project is based on bringing awareness to African diaspora, the marginalisation and lack of representation of black people in media, through a science fiction and futruistic len.
Afrofuturism is built on black people taking control of their narrative, taking their past and present hardships and racism and imagining a better future, expressed through art, music, film and literature. Sun Ra, Grace Jones, Janelle Monae and Cyrus Kabiru were huge inspirations for this project and their influences can be seen in the makeup, staging, outfits and concepts.
